New ultra-efficient TDIe additions to Audi’s A5 range
2 Feb, 2012
Audi has launched two highly fuel-efficient new A5 TDIe diesel engines for its A5 Coupé and A5 Sportback models. With power outputs of 136PS and 163PS, they are versions of the 2.0-litre TDIe engine and are coupled to a six-speed manual transmission.
The new A5 Sportback offers a 2.0 TDIe 136PS and 163PS version. The A5 TDIe 136PS highlights:
-
Sprints from 0 to 62mph in 9.5 seconds
-
Reaches a top speed of 132mph
-
Returns up to 64.2mpg (according to the official ‘combined cycle’ test), equating to low CO2 output of 117g/km.
The A5 Sportback 2.0 TDIe 163PS highlights:
-
Cuts the acceleration time to 8.7 seconds
-
Increases the top speed to 137mph
-
Achieves up to 62.8mpg with a negligible increase in CO2 output to 118g/km.
In the A5 Coupé, the 2.0 TDIe 163PS engine highlights:
-
Pushes to reach 62mph in 8.4 seconds
-
Reaches a 140mph top speed
-
Raises the fuel economy potential to 64.2mpg and taking CO2 to 115g/km, the lowest level in the revised range.
All four-cylinder TDI engines in the A5 Sportback and Coupé ranges can now also be combined with the SE Technik specification first seen in the A4 Saloon and Avant.
For a premium of £1,000 for the Sportback, or £500 for the Coupé, it adds DVD satellite navigation, Audi Music Interface iPod connection, the Audi Parking Plus system with front and rear sensors and cruise control to the existing SE equipment list.
