The A1 has already won its first major accolade – the ‘most exciting new car of 2010’ title at the recent What Car? awards. The Audi A1 was voted for by the magazine’s readers. What Car? editor Steve Fowler said: “A new, small Audi sounds like an enticing proposition and our readers seem to agree, voting it the most exciting new car to be launched this year.

Audi A1 project quattro®
What´s the next big thing? The Audi A1 project quattro showcases a 1.4 turbocharged TFSI engine developing 150PS at 5,500 rpm, whose power is directed to the front wheels by means of the S tronic Direct Shift Gearbox. A 41PS electric motor positioned on the rear axle is able to deliver up to an additional 200 Nm of torque when the vehicle is accelerating.

Audi boffins build ´driverless´ sports car
In its latest display of ´Vorsprung durch Technik´, Audi is set to take on the infamous Pikes Peak Hill Climb course in Colorado, USA, with a ´driverless´ TTS Coupe quattro. For Audi, even in a non-competition format, the run would mark its return to a course that features over 156 turns and climbs 4,721 ft to the 9,390 ft summit.
